Offgridburbia

This week we did the form work and poured the concrete pier foundation.  I cleaned out the holes we dug last week, leveling out the bottom with road base and adding some gravel. I’d been vacillating for a while regarding how to create the piers and creating the form work took longer than it should. I finally decided to use the round concrete forms often referred to as “Sonotubes.”

We poured the first two piers Friday. Jean is installing the rebar in this picture.

Our friends Cameron and Lashelle came out on Friday and helped us pour the other seven piers.
